Bald Head Cruise: The biggest turnout ever!
Bald Head 2023 was a Total Blast…. in fact, it set some club records:
Check it out – we had:
- A record number (17) of boats attended
- A total of 579 feet worth of boats (total length) and dockage space
- A record number (48) of members attending a cruise weekend
- A record number of new members and boats attending a cruise event
for the first time. - An amazing home cooked Italian dinner for the dock party
- Our second annual SSBC Olympic Games challenge.
- Absolutely fantastic weather everyday
Our organizing committee was led by Joe and Alicia Mastropietro and
included: Dan and Kath Craig, Harri and Heidi Beutler, Tony and Nicole
Celeste.
It was a brilliant weekend in Bald Head. Three boats went over a day early
on Thursday to set up for festivities. The rest of the fleet (listed below)
joined on Friday Sept 15th. The Friday night dock party was served up by
some great chefs (Celeste and Mastropietro) and included; grilled chicken
breasts with three choices of sauce, sausage and peppers, plus a mixed
pasta salad and green salad. The crew cooked all this at home and
transported it to Bald Head for the dock party.
After a great meal, the crews all went back to the boats for an evening of
beverages and fellowship.
Saturday morning, we awoke to a stunning day of weather. After folks
enjoyed the morning, we proceeded to a christening of the Celeste’s new
boat, “Fish Wishperer”. After welcoming the new boat to the fleet, we
moved on to the Second Annual SSBC Olympic Games. Congratulations to
Jim and Wende McCarthy who were the Gold Medal winners.
Saturday night was dinner at Jules restaurant and with a crowd like this you still have fun even waiting for food. Sunday was departure day with the weather still beautiful. Can’t wait until next year.
