Georgetown Recap
SSBC visited Georgetown the weekend of June 18. We had members arrive by boat (8 boats), by car and by RV. On Friday evening we celebrated two christenings over seen by Padre Sea Ray Rampy. We christened “Seanchi”-the Rudden’s boat and also the Arndt’s RV …. affectionately named “Camping Buddy”.
Following the festivities, 28 members sat down for our dock party meal …. it was
a fabulous Low Country Boil…..featuring shrimp, clams, oysters, sausage, corn and potatoes….a good time had by all and lots of full bellies. Then after dinner we rallied to have a few beverages on the dock / boats to tell long tales.
Saturday was a day of leisure, either taking in the Georgetown sites or just chilling on the boats. Saturday the crew went to SOCO Chophouse, a nice upscale restaurant. Great food and lots of memories… of special note was the nice accommodations that the owner made for the Jerry and Jean Rudden. They had their new puppy” Fin” along and since they could not leave him at the hotel, some special outdoor seating as arranged … very cool – check out the photo. Other than an unfortunate hiccup on service for part of the group, it was an enjoyable and tasty evening.
The following morning tropical storm Claudette blew in so the crew parted ways with some boats heading back to St James and others continuing the journey to Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. Charleston Harbor Marina is a great place with lots to do, a definite return visit.
